My wife, Susan, and I consider it a privilege to use our creative skills to capture treasured memories at the beach and in the uniquely beautiful cities of Mount Pleasant and Charleston.
We moved to the Isle of Palms in 1994, as we got married, and have made this our home the past two decades. We know the landscape of the South Carolina Lowcountry well and are glad to see how much others love it, too.
I started out as a photojournalist working for my hometown newspaper in high school and eventually spent 14 years working for The Post and Courier in Charleston. I’ve been fortunate to receive many photography awards along the way and was especially honored to be nominated for the Pulitzer Prize. My photographs have been published in national magazines, including Time, Life, People, and O (the Oprah magazine), and I currently contribute to South Carolina Living magazine on a regular basis.
Much of my current work involves capturing life’s special moments through wedding and portrait photography. While many photographers work solo when shooting family portraits, my wife helps me with lighting and posing, which allows me to work faster and provide you with the highest quality images possible.
Most of our beach shoots involve large family gatherings with multiple generations, and Susan helps put everyone at ease. We have three children of our own, elementary through high school, and are comfortable with kids of all ages.
When working with little ones, we bring along our Charlie the Riverdog puppet (the mascot for our pro baseball team), which helps make it more fun. If kids are up for it, we enjoy capturing them running, jumping and playing. We want you to enjoy your experience with us as much as the images you receive.
